Bran[don] Papineau reviewed Heat Wave by T. J. Klune (The Extraordinaries, #3)
A queer romp with some touching moments

This was a fun close to a trilogy I really enjoyed! I will say that I found the first 100 pages or so kind of disorienting, maybe because it had been a year since I read Flash Fire, but also maybe that was the intention with the whole doppelganger thing happening!
I really appreciate TJ's commitment to leftist social movements, and this book did a nice job of handling issues like police brutality, consent, queer and non-monogamous relationships, etc., though at times the allegories (especially between Trump and Burke) felt a little too translucent and heavy-handed, but that's probably also just me!!
Anyways, will always love Nick, Jazz, Gibby, Seth and the rest of the crew <3
